10 years of TAO celebrated in Gifu, Japan

On the weekend of March 9-11, ninety-nine participants from eight countries made the journey to Gifu, Japan to attended our 1oth Annual Technical Conference an AGM. During the Technical Conference all 24 patterns were covered. Keeping true to the teachings of the founder of Taekwon-Do, General Choi Hong Hi, the students and instructors were drilled on correct sine wave and the proper application of techniques, training secrets and the theory of power. By the end of the 10 hour training everyone was exhausted but motivated in their efforts to keep Chang Hun Taekwon-Do alive in its purist form. A promotion test was also held for 1st to 3rd dan Dan candidates. Congratulations to all those who were successful in their quest for higher Dan levels. A socialising party was held for all participants on the Sunday evening where friendships were made for many years to come. Thank you to ITF-TAO Japan for hosting this year. We all look forward to the 2019 Technical Conference and AGM being held in Philadelphia, USA

Himalayan TKD shines

Himalayan TKD participated in the “Fire and Ice” TKD Championships this past weekend in Edmonton , Canada. Fifteen students returned home with 10 gold 8 silver and 4 bronze. Congratulations to all who participated.

5th TAO Umpire Course Conducted in the USA

ITF-TAO United States was the host of the 5th ITF-TAO Umpire Course conducted by TAO Umpire Director Mr. Rick Winsor. Ott’s Taekwon-Do in Philadelphia was the venue. The Course is designed for participants to become familiar with the requirements of fulfilling the duties of a Head Official as well as a Center Referee. This was done through the review of course materials and hands-on practical application exercises allowing the students to perform these duties in a professional manner. It was a very successful seminar and all participants will be awarded the designation of Umpire “A” or “B” certification.

4th TAO Umpire Course Conducted in Canada

ITF-TAO Canada played host of the 5th Umpire Course conducted by TAO Umpire Director Mr. Rick Winsor. This Umpire “A” and “B” Tournament Officials Course was held at Morningstar Taekwon-Do in Oakville, Ontario Canada. There were 47 attendees ranging from 1st Gup to 7th Dan. The Course is designed for participants to become familiar with the requirements of fulfilling the duties of a Head Official as well as a Center Referee. This was done through the review of course materials and hands-on practical application exercises allowing the students to perform these duties in a professional manner. It was a very successful seminar and all participants will be awarded the designation of Umpire “A” or “B” certification.

 

Philadelphia Annual Technical Seminar

On Saturday December 2nd, 110 students from nine Dojangs from Pennsylvania and New Jersey gathered in the “City of Brotherly Love” Philadelphia for the Annual Technical Seminar. Event hosts, Mr. Sean Sutton and Mr. Fran Ott did a fantastic job as usual bringing together ITF-TAO United States members. The 4-hour training session included patterns from Chon-Ji to Tong-Il, kicking drills, basic movements and physical conditioning. The seminar concluded with an exciting demonstration put on by Mr. Ott and Mr. Sutton.

15th Annual Newfoundland Seminar

On November 17-18, ITF-TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar conducted an 8 hour technical seminar in St. John’s, Newfoundland. The 15th annual event was hosted by Mr. Rick Winsor, head instructor of Cabot Taekwon-Do, and was attended by students from Cabot TKD, McCarthy’s TKD and Terra Nova TKD. close to 100 participants from white belt to 5th degree black belt participated. Friday night was a four hour session for black belts covering Kwang-Gae tul to So-San tul. Saturday’s four hour session covered a variety of topics and was attended by everyone. The Saturday seminar was concluded with a fantastic demonstration put on by the Instructors from Cabot TKD and Terranova TKD.

Technical Seminar in Alberta

On Saturday October 14th, 60+ students from Himalayan Taekwon-Do in Edmonton, Alberta gather for their 2nd Annual Technical Seminar with TAO Technical Director Mr. Mike Morningstar. The seminar began with an intensive warm-up and moved right into basic movements, patterns and step sparring. The training was 5 hours in length and ended with an impressive demonstration by the students.

Toukai TKD Championships in Gifu, Japan

The 23th Toukai Taekwon-Do Championships were held on November 26th in Gifu-City, Japan. The Gifu Memorial Center was the venue for this very exciting competition with a high level of technical ability displayed by all. Gifu, Japan is the host city for the 2018 Technical Conference in March.

 

New Dojang in Western Canada

New member in Western Canada

ITF-TAO would like to welcome Mr. Chris Howes and the students of Cardston Taekwon-Do as our latest new member. After a year long hiatus from running a Dojang Mr. Howes has relocated from Calgary to Cardston for fresh new start.

Mr. Howes is a certified 6th Dan Black Belt with many years of experience in Taekwon-Do. We look forward to working with him to keep the Original Taekwon-Do of the Founder alive in its purist form.

Oakridge Invitational Tournament

November 9, 2017

On Saturday, October 28, 2017, Oakridge Taekwon-Do hosted the first annual Oakridge TKD Invitational tournament at Fanshawe College, London campus.  One hundred and twenty competitors from nine dojangs across Ontario and Philadelphia, USA took part in an exciting day of competition.  The women’s team pattern event was introduced and was a huge success with Morningstar TKD winning the gold medal and Oakridge TKD bringing home the silver!
